Sail mission

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming the educational landscape, bringing both unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges.

The SAIL (Schools for AI Literacy) project is a European Erasmus+ initiative designed to empower secondary schools to navigate this new era with confidence and awareness.

Our mission goes beyond teaching basic technical skills: we focus deeply on the ethical, societal, and pedagogical implications of AI integration in the classroom.

By bridging the gap between technological advancement and human-centric education, SAIL equips teachers and students with the critical thinking, media literacy, and data security knowledge needed to use AI responsibly, fairly, and safely.

Assessing needs

Conducting in-depth surveys and roundtables across Europe to understand the real-world fears, misconceptions, and expectations of teachers and students regarding AI in education.

Developing the manual

Creating a multilingual SAIL Manual, a comprehensive, user-friendly toolkit featuring lesson plans, practical guidelines, and interactive resources on AI ethics, explainability, and data security.

Piloting in schools

Testing the SAIL Manual and training frameworks directly in secondary schools across Italy, Spain, Slovenia, and Turkey to ensure our pedagogical strategies are effective and adaptable.

Scaling and Policy Recommendations

Refining the project outputs based on real classroom feedback and sharing our findings to shape future European educational policies and foster responsible AI literacy at scale.

The Black Box and Cognitive Impact

What happens inside an AI tool when we ask it a question? We want to help teachers and students look behind the screen. By understanding how AI generates answers, we can use it to spark creativity and support studying, making sure we always keep our own critical thinking active instead of just copying results.

Media Literacy & Fake News

Today, it is getting harder to tell the difference between what is made by a human and what is created by an algorithm. We are building practical activities to help the school community recognise AI-generated texts and images, understand algorithmic biases, and learn how to evaluate information safely and responsibly.

Privacy & Digital Well-being

When we use smart tools for schoolwork, where does our information go? We want to make sure everyone feels safe using AI in the classroom. We provide clear, easy-to-follow guidelines for teachers and students to protect their personal data and build a healthy, stress-free relationship with technology.
